Papakōlea Beach, also known as Green Sand Beach, is a unique and remote beach located on the southern tip of the Big Island of Hawaii. It’s one of only four green sand beaches in the world. The beach gets its distinctive green hue from a mineral called olivine, which is found in the surrounding cinder cone created by volcanic activity over 49,000 years ago.
