France, in Western Europe, encompasses medieval cities, alpine villages and Mediterranean beaches. Paris, its capital, is famed for its fashion houses, classical art museums including the Louvre and monuments
like the Eiffel Tower. The country is also renowned for its wines and
sophisticated cuisine. Lascaux’s ancient cave drawings, Lyon’s Roman theater and the vast Palace of Versailles attest to its rich history.

BEST PLACES IN FRANCE (Video: Regan Shorter)

1. Annecy: Situated at the base of the Alps, Annecy is a
gorgeous lakefront city. It’s not too big and not too small. It’s gorgeous
year-round and full of things to do in the city. When you get tired of walking
around the Venice of the Alps, you’re surrounded by nature. Take advantage of it
and go on a hike… or paragliding!

2. Provence: Provence is my favorite part of
France! I studied abroad in Aix-en-Provence in college, and that must have been
when my love affair began. This region is filled with small, colorful towns that
are rich in history. Make sure to visit in the summer and experience the
lavender fields too!

3. Lyon: If you’re still itching for a city
experience, try out Lyon instead of Paris. Lyon is the 3rd largest city in
France and is its gastronomic capital.
